Spheretech are an air conditioning contractor, installing and maintaining air conditioning units throughout the UK. They also offer Air Purification & Filtration, Heat Recovery Ventilation and Evaporative Cooling solutions.
Spheretech and Keba have enjoyed a longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship. Not only do we look after and manage much of the IT infrastructure of Spheretech, they have also installed and maintain the air conditioning units in our Daventry offices.
As an environmentally friendly business, they have introduced paperless systems for all their engineers. As part of their IT Maintenance contract, we were asked to help implement the paperless system and set up the engineer’s tablets.
Ransomware Attack
We were contacted by Spheretech one morning as they had noticed that some of their data didn’t look right. As soon as they explained what the issue was, we suspected that they were experiencing a ransomware attack. Luckily the attack was still in progress and were able to offer instructions to help minimize the impact.
We immediately dispatched an engineer to their Head Office in Towcester. While we were on site, we were able to confirm that the ransomware attack had been detected before the cybercriminals were able to encrypt all their data. Spheretech had not yet received a ransom note asking for payment to unencrypt the data.
Although this could have been potentially damaging, the quick thinking of Spheretech and the fast response of Keba Computer Services combined, prevented a much larger disaster.
Off-Site Backups
Spheretech have always been mindful and understand the importance and value of their business data. As such, one of the services that we provide to Spheretech is off site backups.
After securing their network we immediately started restoring their data, we were then able to either clean or source new business computers where appropriate.
